How I Live Happy

When Max Knudsen and Jamie Codispoti, co-owners of Shenanigoats Landscaping in Nashville, Tennessee, decided to offer a goat yoga class last May, they thought it might be a one-time novelty. Instead, it opened the door to a permanent goat yoga studio—as well as the book Goat Yoga. “People just connected with it,” Jamie says. “You can’t be in a bad mood when you’re surrounded by baby goats.”

This is about more than yoga; it’s about a connection with animals and nature.” —Jamie Codispoti, co-owner of Shenanigoats Yoga in Nashville, Tennessee

Goat yoga is having a moment—a very long moment—gaining popularity across the country and inspiring yogis everywhere to strike a downward facing goat pose. In Nashville, ACM New Female Vocalist of the Year and double platinum selling recording artist Lauren Alaina traded in her microphone for a yoga mat at Shenanigoats Yoga. “Namaste? More like na-baaaa-ste,” the season 10 runner-up on American Idol posted on her Instagram page.
